My first photo exhibition named “Africa Salvaje” (Wild Africa) is opening on May 2 at “Casa Sin Fin” in Bogota, Colombia.

A selection of 20 photos celebrating African wildlife and taken in Kenya, Botswana and Namibia will be on display until May 26 2012.

Another short photos series from my short trip to New York early this month. After the High line I walked around the Brooklyn Bridge Park, lower Central Park, Fashion district and Hudson river shore.

All photos have been taken handheld with the long awaited Sony Nex-7 and its kit 18-55mm lens.

Evening walk along “The High Line” which is a former elevated railroad, turned in 2011 into a pedestrian promenade running from Meetpacking district up the 30th street.

The High Line was built in the 1930s, as part of a massive public-private infrastructure project called the West Side Improvement. It lifted freight traffic 30 feet in the air, removing dangerous trains from the streets of Manhattan’s largest industrial district. No trains have run on the High Line since 1980. Friends of the High Line, a community-based non-profit group, formed in 1999 when the historic structure was under threat of demolition.

No visit to the “Pao de Azucar” this time. Instead, a late afternoon trip, under heavy rain, to the Corcovado mountain and its infamous Art Deco statue of “Christ the Redeemer” built between 1922 and 1931.

A late afternoon photo walk in the government sector of the Brazilian capital-city, Brasilia.

The city was planned and developed in 1956 with Lúcio Costa as the principal urban planner and Oscar Niemeyer as the principal architect. Viewed from above, the main portion of the city resembles an airplane.

The city has been acclaimed for its use of modernist architecture on a grand scale and for its somewhat utopian city plan. It has been criticized for the same reasons. Brasilia is the only city in the world built in the 20th century which got in 1987, only 20 years after its completion, the status of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
