A glimpse of Galapagos wildlife
While being in Ecuador I could not miss the opportunity to go again to the Galapagos islands, and this time, with a camera.
The Galapagos, made of 18 islands and 107 rocks, are located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, at about 1000 km West from Ecuador’s coast.
The islands, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, are known for their vast number of endemic species, which were studied by Charles Darwin during the voyage of the Beagle. His observations and collections contributed to the inception of Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection.
During this short trip, I, too quickly, visited the Southern islands of Baltran (former WW-II US Airbase, now one of the 2 airports), Santa Cruz, Floreana, Española & San Cristobal.
